About GetTradesmen.uk

A clearer way to understand the job and find local tradespeople

GetTradesmen.uk is an independent UK information and referral website. We create practical trade and location guides for homeowners, then provide a route to a third-party job-posting partner when someone wants to request quotes. We do not employ tradespeople, carry out trade work or become a party to the contract between a homeowner and a tradesperson.

Transparency at a glance

GetTradesmen.uk publishes independent guidance and uses tracked partner links. Our current job-posting partner is MyJobQuote. We may earn a commission from qualifying referrals. The tradespeople, quotes, contracts and work itself are provided or arranged outside GetTradesmen.uk.

Our role

What GetTradesmen.uk does

The site is designed to help a homeowner understand what kind of trade may be suitable, what to consider before hiring and how local factors can affect a job.

  • Trade guidance: practical explanations of common jobs, questions to ask and points to compare before hiring.
  • Local guidance: location-specific information that can matter to the work, such as housing context, access, local planning or conservation considerations and indicative pricing where relevant.
  • Referral route: when you choose to post a job, we provide a tracked link to a third-party partner that handles the job-posting and matching process.
  • Choice stays with you: GetTradesmen.uk does not select a contractor for you or require you to hire anyone.

How matching works

Our current job-posting partner is MyJobQuote

The quote forms on GetTradesmen.uk do not collect and process the full job request themselves. After you enter a valid postcode and continue, you are sent to the relevant MyJobQuote job-posting page using a tracked partner link.

MyJobQuote operates its own website, matching process, account systems, terms and privacy practices. Any job details you submit after leaving GetTradesmen.uk are provided to that partner under its own policies.

Where our pages refer to partner profile or identity verification, that refers to the partner's own verification process. GetTradesmen.uk does not independently inspect, certify or approve each tradesperson and does not guarantee availability, workmanship, pricing or suitability for a particular job.

Before hiring, you should still review the individual tradesperson, quote, qualifications or registrations relevant to the work, insurance where appropriate and any contract terms that matter to you.

Commercial transparency

How GetTradesmen.uk makes money

Some links to our job-posting partner are affiliate links. That commercial relationship is part of the site's business model, and we disclose it rather than presenting the referral as neutral infrastructure.

We may receive a commission when a visitor follows a tracked partner link and completes a qualifying action. The tracking reference can identify the trade and the GetTradesmen.uk location page that generated the referral so we can understand which parts of the site are useful and commercially effective.

Affiliate links are marked in the site code as sponsored links. Earning a referral commission does not make GetTradesmen.uk the employer, contractor, agent or guarantor of the tradesperson who may ultimately carry out the work.

How our guides are prepared

We aim for useful, location-specific information rather than generic city-name pages

Our trade and location pages are prepared from publicly available information and are written to help with the real hiring decision, not simply to repeat the same text for different places.

  • Official local information where it matters: for planning, conservation areas, Article 4 directions, protected trees and similar local controls, we prefer council or other official local-authority sources.
  • Pricing is guidance, not a quote: where cost figures are included, they are presented as indicative ranges or benchmarks and the page explains that the actual job, materials, access, timing and local market can change the price.
  • Local context is deliberate: neighbourhoods, property types, access issues, weather exposure and planning constraints are included only where they can genuinely help someone understand the job.
  • Dates matter: where a page states when pricing or guidance was checked, that date should be treated as the review point rather than a promise that the information can never change.

Important limits

What GetTradesmen.uk does not claim to be

  • We are not a plumbing, electrical, roofing, building, decorating, flooring, handyman or gardening contractor.
  • We do not claim local offices or physical branches in the towns and cities covered by our local guides.
  • We do not employ or control the independent tradespeople introduced through third-party services.
  • We do not guarantee a particular number of responses, a particular quote, availability, workmanship or the outcome of a job.
  • We do not publish fabricated local reviews, ratings or qualifications to make a page appear more authoritative than it is.
